On January 1, 2020, the jurisdictional amounts of Florida\u2019s courts are changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small Claims courts will\nnow handle cases up to $8,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Court will\nincrease for cases for more than $8,000 up to $30,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circuit courts will hear\ncases in excess of $30,000.00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most\nsignificant changes will require those filing civil actions in county courts to\nfile a cover sheet listing the amount in controversy. The cover sheets will\nallow court administrators to track the changes and report the impact to\nlawmakers by February 1, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new law also changes civil\nappeals from county courts with amounts between $15,000 to $30,000 to the district\ncourts of appeal, bypassing circuit courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
